Patient Resources

We believe informed patients make confident decisions. Our resource center provides helpful information about what to expect, how to prepare for your visit, and answers to commonly asked questions about pelvic health and hormone therapy.

What to Expect at Your First Visit

We know that scheduling an appointment for pelvic health or hormone-related concerns takes courage. These are personal topics, and it is completely natural to feel a little uncertain about what to expect. We want to put your mind at ease from the start.

Your first visit to Well Balanced Healthcare is designed to be thorough, comfortable, and efficient. From the moment you arrive, you will be greeted by a team that is genuinely glad you are here. Our goal for your first appointment is simple: understand your concerns, evaluate your situation, and make sure you leave feeling informed, supported, and confident in your next steps.

Check-in

Upon arrival, you will be warmly welcomed by our front office team and guided through the check-in process. If your forms are completed ahead of time, this step is typically quick and easy. Our goal is to make your arrival smooth, efficient, and comfortable from the very beginning.

Medical History Review

A member of our clinical team will review your medical and symptom history with you in a private, comfortable setting. We will ask about your symptoms, how long you have been experiencing them, how they affect your daily life, and what you have already tried.

Physical Evaluation

When appropriate, Dr. Bailey or one of our providers will perform a focused physical exam to better evaluate your condition. We clearly explain each step before proceeding, move at your comfort level, and take great care to protect your dignity and privacy throughout the entire visit.

In-Office Diagnostics

In many cases, diagnostic testing — such as bladder function testing (urodynamics), pelvic ultrasounds, cystoscopies— can be performed right here in our office. This means you may get answers quicker and without the need for multiple appointments or referrals.

Discussion of Your Options

Once we have a clear picture of your situation, we will sit down with you to explain what we found, walk through your treatment options, and discuss what each one involves. We never rush this conversation. You will have time to ask questions and share your preferences.

Care Plan & Next Steps

Together, we will agree on a clear starting point for your care plan. Before you leave, you will understand exactly what the next steps of your plan look like and who to contact if questions come up along the way. Our team is always here to support you between visits.

How to Prepare for Your Visit

  • Complete any requested new patient forms in advance
  • Bring a current list of all medications and supplements, including dosages
  • Bring your insurance card and a photo ID
  • If you have kept any notes about your symptoms (timing, frequency, triggers), bring those too — they are very helpful
  • If you have had recent lab work, imaging, or treatment at another provider, bringing those records can save time and help us understand your history more quickly
  • Arrive 10–15 minutes early for check-in

You are welcome to bring a trusted family member or friend for support. Some patients find it helpful to have someone with them during the visit.

Accepted Insurance Plans

Well Balanced Healthcare accepts many major insurance plans. Because coverage varies by plan and individual policy, we recommend contacting our office or your insurance provider to confirm your specific benefits prior to your visit.

We currently accept the following insurance plans: Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Medicare, Aetna, Humana, United Healthcare, Multiplan, Private Healthcare Systems (PHCS), First Health, Tricare, and Champva.

Our team is happy to help verify your coverage whenever possible. Please don’t hesitate to call us with questions.

Payment Information

Payment is expected at the time of service unless prior arrangements have been made. We accept the following forms of payment for your convenience: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Personal Check Cash, and CareCredit (medical financing).

We believe you deserve clear, straightforward information about costs before your visit. Our team is committed to explaining recommended services, what your insurance may cover, and any expected out-of-pocket expenses in advance whenever possible. If you have billing questions at any time — before, during, or after your visit — please reach out to our office. We are always happy to help.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my visit be private and confidential?

Absolutely. Your medical information and all visit details are kept strictly confidential in accordance with HIPAA regulations. We maintain secure records systems and private clinical spaces throughout our office. Your privacy is something we take very seriously, and it will never be compromised.

I’m nervous about this kind of appointment. What should I know?

That is completely understandable, and you are far from alone in feeling that way. Our entire team — from the front desk to the exam room — is experienced in caring for patients who may feel nervous, embarrassed, or vulnerable coming in for pelvic health concerns. We move at your pace, explain everything before we do it, and always prioritize your comfort and dignity. Many patients tell us they wish they had come in sooner.

Do I need a referral to make an appointment?

In most cases, no. Many patients self-refer to our practice. If your insurance requires a referral, our team can help guide you through that process. When in doubt, simply give us a call and we will help figure out the right path.

How many appointments will I need?

That depends on the nature of your condition and the treatment path we determine together. Some patients are able to complete their evaluation and begin a straightforward treatment plan in a single visit. Others with more complex situations or those pursuing multi-step therapies will come in for follow-up appointments over time. We always try to be efficient with your time and consolidate testing and consultation when possible.

What if conservative treatments don’t work for me?

We never rush patients toward surgery or advanced procedures. However, if conservative measures are not providing the relief you need and deserve, there are always additional options to explore. We will review those with you honestly, explain the expected outcomes and recovery, and make sure you feel fully informed before making any decisions. The right answer is different for every patient — and we will work with you to find it.

What is recovery like after surgery?

Recovery varies depending on the type of procedure. Minimally invasive surgeries, such as our robotic prolapse repair or a mid-urethral sling, typically involve a shorter recovery than traditional open surgery, though every patient’s experience is individual. We will provide you with detailed, written recovery instructions specific to your procedure, including guidance on activity levels, what to watch for, and when to follow up. We are also always available to answer questions during your recovery.

Is hormone therapy safe?

Hormone therapy has been studied extensively, and for most patients, it is both safe and effective when managed by an experienced provider. Like any medical treatment, there are considerations and potential risks that we review with every patient before beginning therapy. Our approach includes careful evaluation, personalized dosing, and ongoing monitoring through regular lab work — so you are never on a set-and-forget protocol. We will discuss your individual risk profile honestly and thoroughly.

Can men be seen at your practice?

Yes. We provide hormone replacement therapy evaluation and treatment for men experiencing symptoms of low testosterone or hormonal decline. Men are warmly welcomed and will receive the same thorough, personalized care as all of our patients.
